📄 Lasting Power of Attorney Certification Session
Dropped by the Lasting Power of Attorney certification session and was encouraged to see residents taking steps to plan ahead for the future.
A Lasting Power of Attorney allows you to appoint someone you trust to make decisions on your behalf should you lose mental capacity. From 1 April 2026, applications for LPA Form 1 will be permanently free for Singapore citizens, making it easier for more residents to put these arrangements in place early.
Thank you to the volunteer lawyers, doctors and partners who supported residents through the certification process.

Final run of March and I am so proud of our residents for showing up! 👟
Even while overseas with the family this week, the Toa Payoh Central connection stayed strong. I happened to bump into our very own TPYC runners, Jeff and his twin Jason on the same cruise. Of course, we couldn't break the routine - we laced up and hit the deck for a run together on Sat morning! 🚢
While the scenery might change, that kampung spirit travels with us wherever we go. Building a resilient and healthy community starts with these simple, shared commitments to showing up for one another.

[Tuesday MPS]
Another Tuesday at MPS, made possible by the collective effort of volunteers working hand in hand to support our residents. I’m grateful for this spirit of care and community that keeps this going week after week.
This week, we shine the spotlight on our #HeartofMPS, Jonathan!
Thank you for your many years of steadfast service.

🌿 Ageing Well in the Community: Madam Tan and Happy 🐶
During a recent house visit, I met cheerful Mdm Tan and her little companion, Happy.
Given by her granddaughter two years ago, Happy has been accompanied and kept Mdm Tan active daily with regular walks around the neighbourhood.
Companionship and connection, whether with fellow humans or furried friends, is vital in enhancing overall well-being!
I encourage all seniors to remain active and joining programmes organised by our Residents’ Network and Active Ageing Centres around the town.
There are many opportunities to keep engaged, make friends, and stay healthy together!

🎶✨ ArtsEverywhere@CDC at Toa Payoh Central
Residents of all ages came together for an afternoon of music, creativity and shared experiences right here in our neighbourhood.
From lively performances to hands on workshops and a vibrant creator market, it was heartening to see families, friends and neighbours enjoying the arts together.
Thank you to all partners, performers and volunteers who made this possible.

🏡 House Visit to Blk 58 Toa Payoh
Spent the evening visiting half of Blk 58 with our Grassroots Leaders, catching up with residents and hearing their feedback.
Met many seniors who have lived here for more than 20 years and despite their age, their positive spirit and energy remain high. It is encouraging to see their cheerful smiles & listen to their heartwarming stories.
Thank you to the strong support from our volunteers on the ground.
I will be continuing my visit to Blk 58 in next month. See you soon!

Mr Lim and his wife came by MPS last week to share the joy of consecutive successful appeals for their circumstances after a long journey which I was overjoyed to hear!
It is such stories that motivate our team of volunteers who continues to work hard serving our residents.
This week's #HeartofMPS features Jeanette who provides a steadfast supply of supper weekly to ensure our volunteers are well fed!

🏡 House Visit to Blk 193 Toa Payoh
Spent two meaningful evenings visiting residents of Blk 193, situated at the heart of TPYC and near icons like the first NTUC Fairprice in Singapore and Chung Hwa Medical Institution known for their subsidised TCM services.
Many residents have lived there for a long time - I was glad to meet some units with many generations near and within Toa Payoh!
Blk 193 will also be the nearest block to another town icon in the works - the Toa Payoh Integrated Development! Many look forward to the development and the facilities and convenience it will bring.
However, there were some concerns raised about noise and dust from the ongoing works. I was glad to discuss these issues with residents affected and continue working closely with the relevant agencies to review mitigating measures.
Nevertheless, I am encouraged by the understanding from many residents, recognising that improvements and developments are necessary to improve our town, and the benefits for current and future generations. Thank you for the many warm conversations!
Grateful as well to our volunteers from Toa Payoh Central Zone 2 (@tpcrcz2), Toa Payoh Central Community Club Indian Activity Executive Committee and Toa Payoh Central CC (@toapayohcentral.cc) for their support and commitment.

[ Lace Up TPYC ! ]
Missed lacing up with our TPYC runners this week after my son fell ill, but our residents and friends didn’t miss a beat powering through morning like champs!
Meanwhile, a segment of grassroot leaders debut our lace up, brisk walk edition!
All in all, with a great turnout of residents. Run or walk, the Toa Payoh Central spirit is strong - and we’re just getting started!

🧹 Appreciating Our Conservancy Workers
I met our conservancy workers who have been working tirelessly and gave them a small token of my appreciation for keeping Toa Payoh Central clean and liveable for all.
Their work often goes unseen, but it makes a big difference in our daily lives. Even during the fasting month of Ramadan, many continue to carry out their duties with dedication and quiet resilience.
Do show your appreciation for their their efforts when you see them around your estate. A simple thank you can go a long way.

🏡 Lifelong Learning at Every Age
Met Mr Poon and his wife during house visits recently- a retired art teacher from Beatty Sec, who dedicated over 50 years of his life to education. They now travel extensively, collecting art pieces from different countries.
Even in retirement, their passion for learning continues. Mr and Mrs Poon keeps themselves updated using technology. Mr Poon uses his Mac laptop to watch videos and research on new ideas. Recently, they even attended a one-hour talk on artificial intelligence!
Lifelong learning is more than a phrase, it’s a mindset. Mr and Mrs Poon embodies this spirit so well, reminding us that learning never stops, no matter our age.
Thank you for the warm conversation and for sharing your stories 💛
