Hi!
Yinzhou grew up in Geylang, where his love for the community was shaped through deep friendships with neighbours and migrant workers.
In 2013, he started ground up social initiatives like #backalleybarbers. And led tours since 2013 to contribute positively back to the place he grew up in.
Inspired by the lessons learnt in backalleys and a philosophy of “love thy neighbour”. He led tours to raise awareness around social issues through social enterprise Citizen Adventures. Yinzhou is a tourism graduate from Murdoch University and subsequently obtained a Master’s in Tri-Sector Collaboration from Singapore Management University.
In 2021 he joined the eldercare sector during the COVID-19 pandemic, starting as a nursing home care staff, eventually managing Active Ageing Centres.
These first-hand experiences in shaping community initiatives and advocacy inspired his political journey. Today, Yinzhou serves as Member of Parliament for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC and Executive Director of the Chinatown Heritage Centre.
Outside of public service, he is a father of two and believes in a safe, caring, and inclusive community where people care for one another and citizens can flourish.
